Narration As Books Model Misfit (Geek Girl #2)
“My name is Harriet Manners, and I am still a geek.”Harriet knows that modelling won’t transform you. She knows that being as uniquely odd as a polar bear isn’t necessarily a bad thing (even in a rainforest). And that the average person eats a ton of food a year, though her pregnant stepmother is doing her best to beat this.
What Harriet doesn’t know is where she’s going to fit in once the new baby arrives.
With summer plans ruined, modelling in Japan seems the perfect chance to get as far away from home as possible. But nothing can prepare Harriet for the craziness of Tokyo, her competitive model flatmates and her errant grandmother’s ‘chaperoning’. Or seeing gorgeous Nick everywhere she goes.
Because, this time, Harriet knows what a broken heart feels like.
Can geek girl find her place on the other side of the world or is Harriet lost for good?

I seriously didn't think its possible to love these books any more than I already did, until I received a copy of Model Misfit for review, and before I had even finished the first chapter I realised I was completely wrong, and somehow I found myself loving Harriet and all of her friends even more than I previously did. What I love so much about Harriet is her geekyness that she is not afraid to show, and how it comes out more when she is nervous or when she is modelling, which just cracks me up1. You left a multipack of Mars Bars on top of your wardrobe. Can I have one? Dad x2. I had three. Hope that's OK. Dad x3. I'm just going to have one more. Dad x4. Harriet, your Dad's made himself sick on an entire multipack of Mars Bars again. Please don't leave sweets where we can find them. A x My adoration for Harriet Manners continues in this hilariously-funtastic series! I first fell in love with Harriet in Geek Girl , where her willingness to let her geekiness shine immediately won
(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to HarperCollins and Edelweiss.) This is my big adventure. I have travelled 6,000 miles and fifteen years to get here. I came to Japan to have the best summer of my life, and I am going to have it.And no boy is going to ruin it for me. This was an enjoyable story, and Harriet did a really good job of messing up time and time again!Harriet really did mess up in this story, to the point where I wondered how

After my heart has been bruised and battered watching Episodes 3 and 4 of GOT 8 (view spoiler)[Theon! Ser Jorah, Missandei, Lyanna, Beric, Edd! I cry so much especially for Theon! (hide spoiler)], I seriously needed a light read. This was the perfect pick. I liked it so much. Even more than the first book. I enjoyed every bit of it. Laughed from the opening sentence till the very last word. I even probably cried a few happy tears too because unexpectedly, it was also very touching. (Hachiko made
HOW THE SUGAR COOKIES IS IT OCTOBER ALREADY?! I read Geek Girl back in February, which doesn't feel like that long ago, and so I cannot believe that it's nearly 2014. I thought Geek Girl was wonderful, very British and very witty, and I'm happy it appears that the rest of the country thinks so too. It's been everywhere! And it's also being published in the US, which is especially interesting to me as I had wondered how the humour would translate. Because, if it doesn't, you're in for a very
"I suddenly realise that it doesn't matter how far I go, or how lost I am, or how lonely I feel. I fit in here. I always will. That's how I know I'm home." This was so much fun to read :) The "mystery" wasn't hard o unravel and I wasn't very sure about the romance storyline in this book, but overall I enjoyed it.Two highlights of this 2nd book: crazy Grandma and even crazier Dad. I remember that Harriet's parents bickered a lot in the first book and her dad had some funny moments, but in this
3.5 stars!!!Although the premise didn't change from the first book, and neither did the writing, and neither did the characters who stayed true to their portrayal, I actually ended up enjoying this book more than the first instalment of the series. It was just more engaging.I loved the descriptions of Tokyo -- Japan being a country I've been dying to visit for years now. And I really enjoyed the introduction of new characters in this one. The shoots were fun to read about, although again, quite
