Rendition Concering Books Everdark (Dark Ink Chronicles #2)
No spoilers. Here is just my annoyances with the book as a whole. I'm early twenties and I got so annoyed with the whole "bro", "dude" nonsense considering that they are supposed to be 200+ years old. They really didn't act like someone from the 18th century. Eli especially for me was annoying considering he was very insecure and immature all the time. Almost every time they were together he had to establish his dominance and say how much she is his. Plus, I know already that you find feisty girls attractive, you don't need to beat me over the head with it. However, considering Riley constantly had to talk about how much of a badass she was or how she didn't need anyone's help, they really were a good match. I got tired of Elle Jasper constantly repeating Riley's inner monologue. The whole mindreading stuff was very annoying, especially considering they could just pop into her brain anytime. Why even bother asking her questions when you really can just read her mind to get them? It doesn't make sense. It would however make sense for any normal person to admit when they are in trouble. For instance, she is experiencing the kills of a vampire serial killer. Obviously, she wants that to stop, but instead of going to the vampires (Duprees) who probably would know more than she does about what is going on, she tries to keep it to herself.Plus it seemed like the only reason Eli ever reads her mind is to get validation on how hot Riley thinks he is, and if by some random chance that she is not thinking of how much she wants to hook-up with Eli, he gets in a snippy fit about it. Granted those rare times include her thinking of wet dreams with Victorian and/or her serial killer visions.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention Victorian, he's also an incredibly good-looking vampire who possesses the body of a 21 year-old. He, like Eli, was somehow inexplicably drawn to Riley. First, it was because of her rare blood type, but after what seemed like two seconds, became forever in love with her. That last sentence was essentially what happened in book one, but his obsession carries over to this book. I have a weird love/hate relationship for Victorian. I don't understand his obsession with Riley because she is a whiney woman who wants to think she's a tough badass because she used to smoke weed and hang with the bad crowd. That doesn't make you a badass, it makes you a delinquent. I digress. I liked him because even though he was last book's villain, he's trying in his own little way to reform and help Riley. God only knows why, he geminately cares about her. Plus, I can kind of see him coming from the past based on his antiquated sense of love. Also why must authors insist on always having a love triangle? That doesn't help the plot and seems like more of a crutch to provide filler than anything else.
Honestly, I doubt I would read the next book. Her characters are too annoying and self-absorbed to be deemed likeable. This book would sit well with 14-18 year olds who just got done with Twilight.

Urgh this book annoyed me a lot.(view spoiler)[ I really thought the first few chapters where unnecessary. Her "rehab" could've been explained in a chapter.I got tired of always hearing about how hot/sexy/breathtaking/zomg! Eli was and how she couldn't contain herself whenever he looked at or touched her.I understand that sex scenes spice a book up but really just once would have sufficed. Explaining in detail every single sex scene got boring. If those scenes where taken out the book wouldn'tWhen Savannah tattoo artists Riley Poe is ambushed by an undead enemy, she inherits some of the traits of her attackers-and a telepathic link with a rampaging vampire. Now, she's experiencing murder after murder through the victims' eyes. And her new powers will not be enough to stop the horror-or the unending slaughter... ____________________________________________________________________________________________________victorian-vamp obsessed to rileyeli-riley's bf,vampriley-main character,
I am an angry woman while reading this book! And I am an angry woman writing this review!I can't stand annoying, stubborn woman.I can't stand lies.I can't stand fickle-minded woman/man.Riley Poe is the most frustrating woman I've ever read!Yes, I know she kick-ass. She has a wicked angel-wing tattoo, dragon tatoos and etc.BUT SHE IS DAMN FRUSTRATING!!!!I am constantly shaking my book whenever I read about her stubborness and etc.In book 2, she has gotten her brother back and then she was changed.

Absolutely loved this book! Think it was better than the first. Talk about mother of all cliff hangers. WTH?? Now I have to wait a year to find out WTH is going on. I mean come on! I read the insert for the next book. Let me tell you wow.. Seriously. Dang I hate having to wait.. Love Riley Poe and Eli. Ahh Eli.. just saying. lol Yeah he's that good.
Okay, okay, so I skimmed the book. So sue me. I wanted to get to the good *cough Victorian cough* bits. Mmm, so I have a soft spot for possessive stalkerish types in books. Anyways, it seemed like the entire story was in the first chapter and the last few chapters. I don't think I missed out on anything. SPOILER ALERT!!!!!Riley has strong strigoi tendencies, Valerian is still alive and can talk in her brain like Victorian, Valerian kidnaps Nyx, Riley rescues Nyx, Victorian kidnaps Riley for her
I wanted to like this one but I couldn't. I was like wadding through mud and I had to make myself read...that's never a good sign. Here are a few of my issues.1.The plot flow in the beginning is slow...I mean really slow and rather redundant. 2.Riley is still making the same bad choices she made in the first book. The reader and the character knows she's not a bad-ass capable of taking care of herself, but the author keeps letting her act like she is. 3. The voices in her head from Victorian.
I am debating my shelf between a 3 or a 4 star <- The second book of The Dark Ink Chronicles, Everdark by Elle Jasper continues the story of Riley a tatoo artists beeing attacked from both those Romania vampires Valerian and Victorian. The results of this attack if Rilley to have both in her DND the stigoi blood and the results for her and the people arround her are become deadly because not only She has a connection with one of the brother Victorian, causing problems with her relationship
