Although it's a little out of date now, this book is very insightful with its statistics and analysis of the pro-gun movement (including the NRA.) It tells the tale of several shootings, both mass and domestic violence, while also painting a picture of the history of many of the big-name gun manufacturers and their lobbying efforts in DC. He outlines what actions should be taken at the end of the book, wrapping it up neatly... except for the fact that not much has really changed between the end

I think this is an important book, mainly because of the unique angle it takes towards the problem of gun violence. Instead of wasting pages on useless arguments about the Founding Fathers and the Second Amendment, the author approaches the subject from the standpoint of consumer safety. Needless to say, using that criteria, the industry does not come off well. In fact, the author portrays them as callous, greedy sonsabitches whose only goal is getting their ever-shrinking customer base to buy

The NRA won't like this but rational people will. It breaks down the statistics on fatalities and injuries sustained by guns and the costs society absorbs because of the reckless use of such weapons in American society. Also shows how the gun lobby manipulates such statistics and exert influence well out of proportion to their actual numbers. It was a pretty dry read at times. It seemed impressively researched and realizing that the numbers obviously play a huge role in this debate, the book sometimes felt like I was reading an Excel spreadsheet. Maybe I've just been spoiled with infographics (I think I just outed myself as a millennial.)It definitely got my blood boiling thought and shed light on some serious topics. I think I would have enjoyed it better as maybe an editorial.
