Once I got used to who the characters were I throughly enjoyed the book.I had watched the old b/w movies of it and loved them. Greta Garbo and Vivian Leigh both played Anna in separate movies. The movies are what made me want to read the book.
This changed my ideas about reading - I never thought I'd become a classics-reader until Anna Karenina. This was a wonderfully complicated and painful story...cliche, but I really couldn't put it down.
