Truly a rollicking read. There should be more novels like this adventure with a dash of romance. This would make a perfect miniseries for TNT, AMC, or HBO.
3.5 stars. I know that I read this a long time ago and I remember enjoying it, but absolutely none of it was familiar to me on re-reading!It's an entertaining adventure story - I almost called it a romp, but despite the many alarums and excursions of the plot it didn't really have that level of excitement - set in Russia just after the First World War. Murder, robbery, kidnapping, bigotry, and a little light flirting. What more could you want?
