"This world is not safe. Your angels have done great things, but I fear their illusion of safety has been more damaging than they can possibly understand. The ancient evils may be gone, but new ones have replaced them."

----

Five years have passed since the death of the war god, and now angels watch over the land. It should be a time of peace and prosperity. It is not.

With King Antonil marching east to retake his former lands from the orcs, Harruq Tun is thrust into a position of power he is completely unprepared for, leaving many plotting to usurp the throne for their own ends. Hovering over it all are the angels, enforcers of the law and wielders of the executioner's blades. Once viewed as humanity's saviors, the angels now find themselves struggling for a proper place in the new world.

Monsters in the Vile Wedge are stirring, and in the south the nation of Ker moves to protect itself from a rule from on high. War comes, and if Harruq cannot stop it, their paradise of angels may soon become a blood-stained prison.

Excellent book, as always. It's great to read another novel of the Half-Orcs series. The world Mr. Dalglish has created holds my interest and I can't wait to see what happens next.Another deliciously readable and satisfying entry into what has quickly become one of my favorite fantasy series ever. Ev. Er.The epic journey of evilness and goodness and evil gooditude and goody evilishness continues! Battles here, magic fireballs there! Bam! Pow! KERFLOOEY!Plus, an added twist: the previous books saw angels coming down from fantasy proto-heaven to help in the battle against the dark forces. THIS book sees the human reaction to the angel incursion after years of having to put

Like the start of a new series based on a great old series. I can't get enough of these books. I wondered how the story could continue without being tedious of forced and I was very pleasantly surprised. Love the cameos from his other books and loved the new story line. And once again, the struggles with fear, faith and hope always run strong in his books keeping them interesting.

Read all the books and found it a great way to spend some time on the different journeys

An enjoyable series with many surprises. the story line revolves around faith. Not only a religious faith, but faith in yourself and those around you.I found these after reading the Shadow Dance series with Haern. To say the least the least this all takes place in the same world. And seems to run in conjunction with the Shadow Dance series and the Paladins series. Characters are interesting, the battles are brutal and vicious at times. I don't want to give too much away of you have not read

This was a great book. I'm a huge fan of Dalglish now. His books have great pacing, interesting characters, and are just plain fun to read. He has a good way with words and isn't afraid to kill off some main characters. I'll definitely be reading the other books as they come out!
