I just finished this book. Jamie has a very aggressive, intense writing style. The intent of this is to make it humorous and engaging, which I think it does well. It might put you off if you don't like the idea of a competitive powerlifter screaming curses directly in to your brain, though.As for the content, his no-nonsense approach to doing what works is awesome, and he includes a freaking bibliography. That's something you don't see in a lot of books on lifting, but it warms a space in my

In typical fashion, he talks plenty of smack and brags (which I can't say he doesn't have the right to do) frequently. He also offers a lot of great insight on the patterns and common traits of great lifters, again, doing the work for you. Very awesome detailed sections on the squat, bench and deadlift, with the routines of the great performers in each.Great programs laid out in the end, especially for people who love high volume & high frequency training. I have used the beginner routine and the intermediate squat routine, and I have to say, the latter is my favorite routine, results and training satisfaction -wise; but ease yourself into the intermediate routine, and sleep/eat/rest well. You will see unimagined gains.

This is a "guide to elite powerlifting" by Jamie Lewis, who just matched the squat record in the 181 lb weight class with 650 pounds, and will be breaking it sometime in the next few months. Basically, his message is that you shouldn't learn from people who suck at what they do; hence, it is good to learn about lifting from him, because he is a monster at it. In the book, he outlines the training of many lifting record-holders with the (successful) intent of showing that there are many ways toI just finished this book.
