Not only does it ruin lives, it breaks hearts. The hearts of loved ones that stand by you day by day, trying to offer you the support that you need to put the pieces of the puzzle of life back together.
But some people don’t fit that last piece in the empty slot that the drugs have created. My mother left that slot empty and was never the same. But her story has already been told… This is my story.
This is the Aftermath of an Addiction.
I read both stories in a day and just couldn't put the book down. As I write this review a few weeks later I am still moved by this story. This story took us into the author's life and through her trials as the mother of an addict. We also heard from the granddaughter and what she went through as the daughter of an addict. What a gut wrenching yet beautiful story of a mother's love and the love of a grandmother. This is a truly great read and I would highly recommend it.PS. you will need tissues

Always speak outThis book is so heart capturing that it will take your breath away! It will show you two sides of this coin which is flipped quite frequently. I am proud this author chose to share these thoughts and feelings with others in the hopes of saving others and educating even more. Thank you!
This book was a fabulous book to follow Outside the Addiction: A mother's story. the continuation of the struggle to fight for her grandchildren and a look into the child's perspective left me in aaawww. To feel the struggle through these words to feel what this mother and grandmother felt is a powerful story to tell, but to get it from a child's point of view is far beyond that. There are no words to really describe this book it is definitely an eye opener and brings awareness to the struggle.
What a moving and powerful book! I love this story it will have you crying. It is well written and it will hold your attention until the very end! What Sandra does in this book is amazing. WARNING: Have tissues ready! Great job hun! A MUST READ

Her daughter Tina was a drug addict who couldn't care for them, she recently called saying she was clean for a year, but Susan knew better because she was slurring her words on the phone. Tina called to say she wanted to come home, but when her mother refused to take her in again, she filed a custody hearing to regain custody of her two children.
